The Great Pumpkins!

We have waited all summer to see what all of our hard work would bring us! It was so much fun to say to Tyler "Do you want to go pumpkin picking?" and walk right outside the house! We were lucky enough to grow three pumpkins-- not bad for novice gardeners! As you can see from the pictures, one of the pumpkins was still a bit on the green side. I guess we had a bit too much rain this summer and that is why the pumpkin crops are not entirely ripe yet! We didn't mind and we can't wait to grow some again next year!

This was our first pumpkin to grow. Do you see the size of the leaves? They are huge! The plant grew up, around, and though most of the bush that Tyler is standing by!

Our bounty! See you next year, Pumpkin Patch!

I'm SUPER impressed! I think I remember trying to grow pumpkins as a kid, but they never got bigger than a gourd. Okay, I might be exaggerating slightly, but they were definitely not that big. Way to go!

WOW! Those are awesome pumpkins! You could run your own patch right from your backyard! Seriously, I saw some giant pumpkins at the patch yesterday on sale for $35! Congrats on your success! :)

That's a great lesson to Ty on planting and growing and pretty dang cool for you to see the fruits of your labor (and to not have to shell out top $$ for some primo pumpkins!). Farmer Jen - you should try livestock, next! ; )

P.S. Hey, check our blog - specifically the comments to the Playing Catch post. Hank Steinbrenner (aka Jeff Jernigan) commented! Looks like our boys have their careers! So does that mean we can retire, now?
